What is counselling?
Counselling offers a confidential and supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may feel difficult to hold alone.
People seek counselling for many reasons. This may be in response to anxiety, low mood, panic, intrusive memories, or significant life changes. At other times, it is simply a sense that life no longer feels quite right.
I offer a calm, empathetic environment in which we can explore together what is happening for you, make sense of past experiences, and ease present distress, at a pace that feels manageable.
My Approach
I work in a relational and integrative way, offering a safe, non-judgemental space where both present and past experiences can be explored with care.
My core training is humanistic and existential, and I draw on a range of approaches depending on your needs. This may include psychodynamic, Gestalt, transpersonal, and CBT-informed therapy, as well as somatic and body-aware approaches. I also work creatively where helpful, using imagery or other creative methods to support expression and insight.
I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a trauma-informed therapy that can be helpful for some people where distressing experiences continue to affect the present. EMDR is not suitable for everyone and is offered thoughtfully, following careful assessment and preparation.
Sessions
Sessions last for approximately 50 minutes and are ideally on a weekly basis. I can work on a short, medium or long term basis depending on what is needed and is appropriate.
